World Class Kiteboarding Academy

I am super stoked to announce I have joined World Class Kiteboarding Academy, let me tell you a little more about it.

WCKA is a dedicated highschool for kitesurfers, sounds cool right, but what does that mean exactly? WCKA is a team of around 18 high school aged kids that travel together with a team of 6 teachers who are mostly also kitesurfers, our school year is divided into 2 semesters with 2 quarter each of around 7 weeks, for those 7 weeks we live, study, kite and train together, our days are pretty full, we start each day with a morning workout where we train cardio, strength and flexibility on rotation then we start our regular classes, one our school day is over we hit the water to kite, then on to homework, depending on the setup of the location we also have to share some household duties in our mentor groups including cooking and cleaning.

We have a lot of fun and have to overcome the challenges of living together for extended periods, our schedule is very busy and it is hard work to keep up with all of our academic requirements as well as our sport, but we get to spend each quarter of the year in a different location, kiting in different conditions and training for our different disciplines, most of us are passionate about freestyle, but some of the team are more into freeride, kickers/park  and big air, but most importantly we all love to be on the water shredding.

I just got home from the first quarter of the year, we have been based in Hood River and then moved onto the San Franciso area, it's been fun getting to know all the team, some of us were new to WCKA and some of the others have already been here for a few years, we have had a great time on and off the water and also faced some extra challenges as there were large wildfires burning in the hood river area, the smoke limited our kiting a bit and we even had to cancel a few moring work outs becasue of air quality, but all in all its been a great experience.

Now I'm home for a couple of weeks then I will be packing up and flying off to Brazil to meet up with the crew for Q2, after Christmas we will be heading to South Africa and then for our last quarter Dahkla and Sicily, so stay tuned for more updates.
