South Africa, the home of the Red Bull King of the Air, and with good reason.
Mid January the WCKA crew were on the move again, flying in from all around the world after some very long flights we all made it safely to Cape town and then headed off to Langebaan for the first two weeks.
We had a perfect location for our school setup, plenty of space for classes and study and just a few meters from the beach, Langebaan is South Africas freestyle spot, with quite flat water on a huge lagoon while it boasts flatwater it also gets hit with big winds, so our time here was a mix between freestyle training and going big.
We were able to travel down to Cape Town to watch the King of The Air, we saw some really impressive powered riding which inspired is all to step up the game with our own big air tricks, I pushed my riding here with bigger loops, late backrolls and trying to get to grips with boogie loops.
After a couple of weeks in Langebaan we moved down to Cape Town, bigger winds and more kickers gave us all the chance to push ourselves to the next level.
As well as our regular school work in South Africa we also had the chance to check out plenty of the nature that it is famous for, one of the hghlights was visiting the penguins, they are so funny and cool, of course a hike up Table mountain was also in the program.
Finally we headed back to Langebaan for the last few days, here we got to take part in a local comp, and I was stoked to be able to take 1st int he Big Air, with Janeck pulling in second, then on to our school competition and Janeck came back to take 1st leaving me in second finishing my heat with a spectacular wipe out!
The last days in Langebaan didn't go quite to plan I sustained a knee injury and ended up with a knee brace and pair of crutches for the trip home, but luckily the doctor is confident I will be back on form with a bit of rest and steady ease back into training, so time to put my feet up for a few days and get fit for the next stop Dahkla!
